CEREC Same-Day Restorations
CEREC technology allows Lougheed Family Dental to create custom ceramic restorations directly in the dental office. Depending on your treatment needs, this may include crowns, inlays, onlays, and certain veneers.
Many CEREC restorations can be prepared, designed, fabricated, and placed during a single appointment, reducing the need for traditional impressions, temporary restorations, and multiple visits.
What It Is & How It Works
CEREC combines digital scanning, computer-based 3D modelling, and in-office milling to create custom ceramic restorations.
The tooth is digitally scanned, and a 3D model is used to design the restoration. The restoration is then fabricated from a ceramic block using an in-office milling machine and, when appropriate, placed during the same appointment.

The Process
1. Digital Imaging
A digital scanner captures detailed images of the tooth and surrounding teeth.
2. 3D Modelling
A digital 3D model is created and used to design the custom restoration.
3. Fabrication
The restoration is fabricated from a ceramic block using the in-office CEREC milling system.
4. Placement
The dentist checks the fit and appearance of the restoration before placing it. When appropriate, the entire process can be completed during the same visit.
